✨ Positive Behavioral Support: What’s Your Role?

  1. Be a good role model (respectful behavior teaches respectful behavior)

  2. Be a good observer (you often notice changes first)

  3. Keep good documentation (accurate facts help determine why behavior occurs)

  4. Follow behavior support plans (consistency + human rights guidelines matter)

  5. Be a good communicator (listen to words and behavior to support choice/control)

  6. Be supportive and respectful (respect builds trust and progress)

  7. Commit to problem-solving (help find solutions that support community life)

  8. Assist with improving quality of life (friends, activities, new challenges)

  9. Point out positive actions (reinforce success and independence)

🚨 Safety Note (Very Important)

If behavior is dangerous, safety comes first. Do not try to “teach a lesson” while dangerous behavior is happening. It is not a teachable moment—focus on safety and calm.
